Wedding Dress Length
How high off the floor in front should a full-length wedding dress with a modest train be? With my shoes, mine seems to be about 2-3 inches off the ground in front. It is just above the floor on the sides. I`m worried that this might be too short. I know it`s supposed to not be touching the floor, so I don`t trip over it, but how short is too short for a full-length gown? Wedding`s at the end of February. Thanks!

Kristine,
I`m not a dressmaker, but all of the full length gowns I`ve seen just rest on the instep of the foot. Have you tried shoes with a lower heel? (more comfortable during the reception)

Thanks, Carol, for replying. I`m not sure what`s meant, though, by the dress resting on the instep of the foot. Does that mean that if you wear the dress and push your foot out and to the side, the hem of the dress would be just above the sole of the foot? Sorry...clueless. Thanks for any elaboration you could provide.

Kristine- I am a wedding planner and have 6 years experience in bridal retail. Your dress should be 1-1.5 inches from the floor. 2-3 inches is too much. I hope you haven`t had it finished since your wedding is only a few weeks away. If it is hemmed, try lower shoes. Need any more help please write.

Kristine,
Sorry I didn`t make myself more clear. The instep is the top of the foot. (where your sneakers lace) I don`t know how high of a heel your shoe has, but if all else fails, there are some really cute ballerina-style shoes. From what I`m told, they are really comfortable.
