Disappointing Bridal Expo In Chicago

For those who will be attending the Bridal Expo in the Chicagoland area the next few months, I must say don’t raise your expectations too high. I recently went to the Bridal Expo in Rosemont, IL, and it was extremely disappointing. I thought the Bridal Expo was to exhibit all the Bridal Industry has to offer (or at least most of what has to offer), but instead I went to an expo lacking almost every essential thing needed for a wedding. Almost every single top bridal magazine has an advertisement for the bridal expo and it has a list of the things you will “see” at the expo like ice sculptures, invitations and calligraphy, reception sites; just to name a few. But reality was that there were very few vendors and some of the vendors didn’t have information about what they do. There wasn’t one single vendor or exhibitor with favor ideas (forget about samples), not even wedding invitation vendors. Most of it was tuxedo vendors, David’s Bridal, china and glassware and some DJs. There was only 1 Chocolate fountain exhibitor and 1 exhibitor of tall glasses for decoration/centerpieces but she didn’t even have a banner or information of what they do (really sad because the decorations were splendid).

At the end there was the “famous” (or I should say infamous) fashion show where models fashioned bridal gowns/tuxedos only from David’s Bridal/After Hours. It was just more of the same ol’ thing. I must say though that the male models did put on a show. And the much younger models (ring bearer and flower girl models) just stole the show. Those kids were just fantastic.

There was such a lack of professionalism between the exhibitors and representatives that it was just uncalled for. I just hope that it was just this ONE time. I really hope that all of the other expos in the next few months come out great and show everything they promise. Of what’s left for me, I will not attend another expo this year. I will patiently wait for something else (and better). Or maybe I will not wait for anything at all. I have been able to get more information out of magazines and websites than out of the Bridal Expo. To resume it all; just like I said in the beginning, don’t get your expectations too high. You may be in for a big disappointing surprise.
