Bridal Shower Gifts

The bride and groom to be live in a condo with no storage space at all. They will not be moving for about a year after their marriage. We don`t want to miss out on the fun of a bridal shower, yet they don`t have any room to keep gifts until they move into a larger home. Is it ever okay to suggest gift cards? If so, how would that be worded?
