Inexspensive Decorating Ideas For Church Fellowship Hall
I am looking for help with decorating our church fellowship hall for parties such as Valentines, multi-cultural, Christmas. When we have a dinner/party it is usually up to the team which the events fall under to set up, decorate, etc. Not all of these people are creative and they think that the other person will do it. At the last minute they realize that nothing has been done and I get to once again rescue them. I am somewhat creative but I need help on how to decorate on a tight budget. We are a church in the innercity so whatever we do has to pretty much be done indoors. Yesterday was our annual Valentine`s dinner fund raiser. The head of this team is lost when it comes to decorations and creativeness. His idea was a pink tapered candle in a star shaped holder on a white paper table cloth. One hour before the dinner I was asked to help. I used pink tissue paper as a middle table runner, cut out hearts of diff. Colors and sizes, sprinkled gold, shiny confetti hearts on the runner and I added the candles they had. It looked ok but I thought a bit tacky. Help! Please! Thanks Kimj

I just held a Valentine`s dinner fundraiser at our church this past weekend. I had people in the church volunteer their card tables for use, so that we could have a more intimate setting than long tables. In the center of the table I placed a cut out red heart out of cardstock and on that a red metal pail from Hobby Lobby that had a cut out design in it and I placed a votive in candle holder inside the pail. On the outside of the pail I placed clear stickers with black writing on them. Then sprinkled chocolate kisses and other valentine`s candy around the pail with some heart shaped styrofoam covered in red glitter. Inexpenseive and very formal looking all together. I actually sold the centerpieces for 2 bucks a piece at the end of the evening to further raise money:-)

Thank you, that sounds beautiful. We had our fund raiser Spaghetti Valentine`s dinner at church on the 8th. It was a huge success. Our dinners are for all ages and many have groups as big as 10. We put white paper table clothes with a red plastic(dollar store table cloth cut lengthwise in 4 strips about a foot wide) table cloth runner down the center. Then we put clear glass vases with fake(but beautiful) roses with 3-d hearts on stems and shiny, red glitter hearts on stems as cenerpieces. Also added bowls of Hershey`s kisses and conversation hearts and sprinkled with white(silk) rose petals and heart confetti on the table runners, oh and had 2 votive candles also. It was nice. If you want to see pictures...go to jamesperdue.org and look at his pictures of the Valentine`s dinner. I would still like ideas for decorations, craft ideas as well. Thank you. What a great site.
