Okanagan Wedding For Under $1000

I live in the Okanagan BC Canada, and am looking around for a cheap photographer, reception hall, and wedding ideas. My boyfriend and I have basically no money, but are trying to save up $1000 for a small wedding or reception. Anyone here with ideas? If you want to email me privately, email me at ashangelz@yahoo.com

I did a lot of research for my own okanagan wedding and discovered that it is a lot cheaper to make centerpieces and bouquets yourself using fake flowers. Search around for inexpensive silk flowers (a good place is Walmart or if you can wait until october - michael`s craft store will be opening in kelowna). Just buy your flowers, some wire cutters and some flower styrofoam pieces. You might want to look to the city for locations as well. Depending on what you are looking for in a ceremony location (outdoors or indoors). Recreation centers often rent out halls. Or if you are looking for an outdoor ceremony, regional and provincial parks are fairly inexpensive, all you need to do is obtain a permit. Some suggestions would be bertram regional park, knox mountain regional park, waterfront regional park or kasugi gardens, all in kelowna. Other locations that may be of some interest would be hardy falls in peachland or even the ss. Sicamous in penticton! Anyways, good luck with your plannning. :-)

I am not from Okanagan, but I hope my suggestions will help. If you have a friend or family member with a decent digital camera, have them take pictures for you. Walmart.com sells flowers in bulk for really good prices, if you were willing to take the do it yourself approach. That is what I did. Have close friends and family make hors d` vours. This will feed people enough and cut costs. Also, alot of grocery stores have good frozen "finger food". Hit all of the craft store clearances that you can find. That is a good way to get candles and the like. Look around in your yard or friends and family`s yards for greenery that you like. They may have ivy or grapevine or the like growing. They are both wonderful to use. Tulle is a cheap decorating fabric. You can wind it around just about everything. It is about $1 per yard at Wal-Mart. Check out rental places too, they are a great way to save money. For wedding invites go to wedding.orders.com . You can order FREE invitation catalogs. Many of them have VERY cheap wedding invitations. I got a great deal from one of the catalogs. And most of all keep your guest list down. That always saves money.
Hope these suggestions help. I know it is hard to plan a wedding on a limited budget. It can be very stressful, but it CAN be done. I did it!
