Masquerade Wedding HELP PLEASE :(

My wedding is on October 13, 2006. My fiancee and I have decided on a masquerade themed wedding, we thought it would go great with fall and halloween. However I feel like I have run into a wall. I found a dress that I am in love with that has red trim, so the brides maids dresses will probably be red, however my favorite color is purple all my life I have had purple everything and want to incorporate that into my wedding. We are also having trouble incorporating the one major theme (masquerade) with fall decorations my mother has already purchased for me, I`m afraid its going to result in something chinsy or clash. Any ideas or advice anyone has to give would be AWSOME!!! I just havn`t been able to find any ideas for a masquerade themed wedding online anywere.

Thanks!!!!

Dear Kimmie:

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!! A masquerade theme is a great fall party!! Red and purple do go well together, all you need is one or two more accent colors to tie it all together. Deep orange, black, and possibly gold trim. Picture lots of feathers in those colors, possibly trimming the masks for the wedding party and guests, lots of candlelight, moonlight, and the mystery of a dark autumn evening. Think of possibly having all of your guests in costume. Or fancy dress, maybe in keeping with a New Orleans feel, 18th or 19th century in the French Quarter, when masked balls were very popular.

I hope some of these ideas inspire you!! If you would like any more help, please feel free to email me anytime at Kimber0613@aol.com.

Have a good day!

Hi Kimmie,

All of my items are custom made so I would be happy to do favors or added decor to tie in with the items that your mother had already purchased. You can let me know colors, etc. To tie it all together. You can see some of my work at www.cmbcrafts.com I just did an order of Votive favors in different masquerade masks for a Mardi Gras event, but as I mentioned everything is custom made so we can work with the items you already have.

Email me anytime happy to help

That is amazing!! I am also having a masquerade wedding.. Or rather, we are making our wedding into a masquerade ball.. Something along the lines of the scene in Labyrinth, only more colour.

I would LOVE to know how you are overcoming some of your obstacles. Will you please e-mail me, if you are comfortable with it?

Sounds like a fun wedding first of all if you want purple have it!! just choose a redder shade to somewhat go with your dress you can also have your brindesmaids wear masks that blend the red and purple together you could carry a white mask. You could also make it match with the flowers. As for all those fall decorations ( im assuming you mean leaves and pumpkiny things ) try going kind of cinderella with it and spray paint a little gold or silver on them then pair up with different elegant masks. Think victorian queen cornucopia

You can make masks by taking the drywall tape stuff that goes along the seams of drywall and just use water apply it to your face (put vaseline on face first especially hair) or someone elses in a somewhat thick layer wait for it to somewhat dry ( 30 min -1 hour) and take it off then add more layers to make it strong sanding between each layer. Then you can paint or add any decorations you want. At the end apply an acrylic paint varnish, you can find it by the acrylic paint and you can choose between matte or glossy. Just experiment this would be fun with all the bridal party even guests !!

Invitations could even be small masks or scrolls ! like i said just have fun!

Hi all,

I`m also having a masquerade ball theme and have run into a brick wall myself. I`m one for going all out so once I set my mind on a time period (19th century victorian) I just can`t bring myself to do anything that`s not authentic looking from that time.
I`m having a problems with bridesmaids dresses. I want to have them made because I can`t find any to really match the them or my girls budgets. I`m not getting any replies from seamstresses or dressmakers. I can`t make them all (6) myself and I just don`t know what to do.
I`m also not fairing well with mask finding. I had a great offer from socaldesignco.com; but I haven`t heard from them in a long time.
I`m also at a loss for invitations. I just don`t know what to do. I thought that this was going to be fun; but it is proving more difficult/expensive than it is any fun. Please help me if anyone can b/c the internet sure as heck doesn`t know anything and please keep in mind that my colors are black white and silver and that I would love to stay in the time period.

Thanks so much,

And Kimmie I`ll offer anything that helps me to you so that you can take a look as well.

Hi I also know the feeling of being lost. I was going to do the masqurade theme but found that there were so many walls that cameup so we have opted for a ah lloweenish them. Everytime i looked online for masqureade themes or any related subject i got for mardi gras. The mask are a great idea and we had even thought of having our guest wear the costums to thereception but not hte wedding but it proved tobe a hassle so..... I wish you the best of luck.

Hello,

I was lucky in that a friend of my mothers has started a business renting out rennaissance-like dresses & mens costumes that she has made. She has about 40 dresses so far. She charges approx $50 per dress ($15 of that is for cleaning fees, they are rather elabourate), and in our case, we paid for the cleaning fees because we`re asking them to rent a costume, and not asking for presents, as the event is more important to us than weddign gifts.

I do not know if she is interested in renting them out long-distance, but if you`re up for it, please e-mail me and I can send you some pics of what she has available. (ophilye@gmail.com)

I just wanted to let y`all know that I found a great website... Www.amasquerade.com. They are being really great and they are giving me a bulk discount of 10% and the masks are cheap to begin with. They have extra things too like shoes for all different time periods costumes for rent or sale and hats, wigs, and everything is reasonably priced. I`m still not sure what to do about invitations; but it`s a work in progress. I just thought that I would share my findings. God bless and keep the tips coming everyone has been so helpful. I still need a seamstress if anyone know where I can get one. Thanks a lot y`all and have a great day.
