50th Anniversary Invitations

I am planning my parents 50th aniversary reception. My parents recently went another 50th reception and the couple had a money tree instead of gifts. Can this be worded on the invitations, that my parents want a money tree in lieu of gifts?

Instead of gifts, ask for cards or letters with their favorite memory of the couple. These can be placed in a decorated 3 ring binder with plastic sleeves or a scrap book for keepsake.
