You don`t need a theme but many couples choose some sort of unifying element(s) so that aesthetically, your ceremony and reception look like one contiunous event. Your flowers and colors could provide a unifying look - you will carry a bouquet down the isle and probably choose a similar style for centerpieces and to embellish the cake.
