Reception In The Philadelphia Area

Somebody help me please!! If I don`t find a reception site soon, I fear I may snap and elope. And of course if I do that, I`ll regret it later. Ok, here`s the deal; We just had a baby, he was a preemie and I stay home with him. That leaves us with a single income and no family assistance. He`s given me a $6,000 budget and we are probably having about 90-100 (that`s really cut down). I would like to have the reception at a decent looking location and do not want metal folding chairs. I know, that may seem petty, but that really bothers me. I have thought about a fire hall and stuff, but I think with those you have to provide everything but tables. Pretty expensive. I just will not except that a cheap wedding/reception has to look like it. I may be able to stretch th budget to about $8,000 if needed. Anyway, can someone please help? The wedding is in October 2006. I am willing to have it on a Friday or Sunday evening. Thanks in advance!

I would encourage you to start out by making a list of what is important to you about the wedding. In it include everything - even various obvious things such as "inviting all of our guests" as well as details such as "white wooden chairs". After you have a very comprehensive list, rank the order of importance of each item with your fiance. Then it will become more clear that maybe the flowers and cake are very important to you but your catering is not. You can then create budgets within those categories and you might have to choose a buffet style rather than sit-down dinner so that you can get the flowers you want. $6,000 is plenty of money to have a gorgeous wedding. Also, consider multiple use items such as using your bridesmaid`s bouquets as centerpieces for some of your tables. If you ask them to, many florists will save flower petals for no extra charge for on or around your cake. But most importantly, determine what is most important to you and your fiance and spend money there and save elsewhere.

Hi alisha, my fiance and i are also in the philly area. We`re having our reception off of southampton and the boulevard. There`s a bunch of union halls back there that are all served by one caterer. The good news is, since its all union halls, they won`t allow the caterer to ever raise their prices! the menu is HUUGGEE! check out pandpcaterers.com
