Wedding Registry

I was wondering what the etiquette would be with wedding registry cards. Do you put them into the invatations?? I have heard that that would be too tacky, and you should just give cards to the wedding party in case someone asks them , but the problem that I have, is that most of the guest list wouldn`t ask when they RSVP, and they live out of state so they wouldn`t be "bumping" into anyone in the wedding party. Should I put the where we are registered onto a card in the invatations??
