Wedding Renewal

My husband and I are renewing our wedding vowls in February. We really do not want to have a traditional reception. We would like family and close friends to join us for dinner at a local resteraunt. Since this is a renewal and not a actual wedding, would it be OK if everyone paid for there own meals?

When you are renewing you vowls, is it proper to have a large wedding with long gown with flower girls etc. And request gifts.
