1940`s Wedding
Hi:
I apologize that there is a misunderstanding about my post. I have not yet wed. My wedding is in April and surprisingly I have changed a lot of plans since my first posting. I have selected a different gown from the original choice of a starlet`s day gown and everyone is so much happier. My seamtress and I combined patterns and it`s awesome! Go on line and type in Eliana Ben-Zeev and the dress she`s getting raves about should appear. I loved the back but changed the front using a Bellville Sassoon pattern that has a sweetheart neck and is rouched all the way down the front. Very 1940`s.
I`m still keeping the same centerpieces I made because calla lillies cost about $12.00 a stem. If money is of no concern, go for the real thing. I can better utilize my funds.
I have a chef friend who is making the cake. A very simple, plain cake. Then I just order the paste calla lillies and she places them artfully on the cake. Saves lots of money. Cakes by Sam online has beautiful paste flowers of all types and they can last as long as a year (I asked).
My problem is finding a DJ (it appears my wedding is on the same day as all the local school proms).
There is one other difficulty...I can`t seem to find a 1940`s style bridesmaid dress WITH SLEEVES. My girls need sleeves. Anybody out there got any ideas.

Dear Edith,
Good luck with your 1940`s theme wedding! As a professional Midwestern wedding photographer I LOVE the fun and fantasy such a playful theme adds to your wedding celebration. Check out the wedding galleries at my web site ( www.dangerouslinda.com ) for more ideas. I`ve done "gangster weddings" and "big band weddings" for example. Have fun!! FYI - I used calla lillies (six years ago) for my bouquet and bridesmaids which were under $3.00 a piece. You can save a lot of money on your flowers by dealing with a wholesale florist, especially if you know a friend or family member who can create the centerpieces etc. For you. Where do you live? I am in TX - if you are here, use Nasa Flowers.

If you haven`t found your bridesmaid dresses yet, try www.daddyos.com. They have some incredibly cool reproduction 1940`s style dresses if you are going with something a bit more casual than the traditional bridesmaid dress. I have polka dot as one of my theme colors and am having my bridesmaids pick a dress off the site.
