First, make sure you know the law when it comes to liquor licenses. If you are going to have a cash bar, you may need to provide the permit yourself (but it differs state to state). In that case, I would recommend contacting a local bartending school or bartending service. Usually their bartenders have experience working weddings, have a ServeSafe or comparable certification, and are covered by their company`s licensing.
If you have an open bar, check to see if the hall has the permits which allow liquor to be served. If they do, you might try going to your favorite bar/lounge and asking a bartender if they want to pick up some work on the side (or if they have a friend). The downside to this is that if something goes wrong, there may be hard feeking that go beyond a professional relationship.
Whatever you do, don`t have a friend/ relative act as bartender, even if they have prior experience. It just isn`t a good idea.
