Sorry I don`t have a poem, but one of my best friends gave me an angel pin to wear on my wedding day. It was to remind me that even though my mom isn`t here physically, she`s still with me. I thought it was so sweet, exspecially because planning a wedding is hard to do without your mother.

I too do not have a poem, but if you can get something of her mom`s for her to carry...a hanky, her ring, a picture in a locket of the two of them. And then have in her mom`s row...the mother`s flowers. Her mom will be with her, on that special day, and if she has any children, when they are born. She will be her angel forever....and she will be smiling and very proud of her daughter.
Hope you can find what you are looking for.....God Bless you all.

Hello,
I too had no kind of father all my life, my mom was my best friend. I lost her to cancer in March of 02, and I was married in June of 02. I made several adjustments to my wedding so it would sort of feel like she was there with me. I set her favorite flower (Stargazer Lily) at an empty place setting at the family table. My husband and I danced to our wedding song, then we had a second dance to "Butterfly" by Mariah Carey. During the song I was holding her flower, then gave it to her closest cousin (my god mother). I also wore her wedding band on my left had. Like I said, I made every attempt to feel like she was with me.

I have a poem too, but I dont know who wrote it. I have this hanging at work with her photo...

God looked around his garden, and he found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth, and saw your tired face.
He put his arm around you, and lifted you to rest.
God`s garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain,
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough and hills were hard to climb.
So he closed you weary eyelids and whispered, "Peace Be Thine".
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn`t go alone...
For part of us went with you, the day god called you home.

Here is a beautiful poem, author unknown. You could have it read right in the spot of the ceremony where you would normally give your mom her rose. I used this same poem in my wedding....but changed the words for my father....and had it read right after I walked up the aisle. I would just suggest trying to incorporate a poem where her normal presence would have been.

If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother`s arms
And tell her they`re from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
But there`s an ache within my heart
Because I am missing her today.

My Mother passed away suddenly {a freak accident at home} in Oct. 2001 and now I am getting married Oct. 2003. It breaks my heart to know she won`t be there..physically anyway. So, I will have the following poem displayed in her honor.

To: My Mother On My Wedding Day

Today my thoughts go fondly back
To joy-filled yesterdays --
To pretty dresses, toys and dolls
And sometimes stubborn ways.
I still recall your tender care
And how you watched me play,
The way I always reached for you
For hugs at end of day.
No longer just a child at play,
I now become a wife.
And part of you is etched in me
As I go forth in life.
The bond we`ve formed will never fade --
You`re always in my heart.
No matter what the years may bring,
We`ll never be apart.

A million times we needed you,
A million times we`ve cried
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

If all the world was mine to give,
I`d give it, yes and more
To see you coming up the steps
And walking through the door.

To hear your voice, to see your smile,
To sit and talk with you awhile
To be with you the same old way
Would be our very fondest day.

A heart of gold stopped beating
Two smiling eyes closed to rest
God broke hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
