Hello:
I have made cakes for many occassions but never for underwater. I am guessing that the bride and groom are divers. I do have a suggestion. If you are doing a tier cake you can get giant clear plastic ziplock bag. I know that computer parts stores have them. Just put the cake in the bag and then blow it up and zip lock it. That should work. The weight of the cake will keep it from floating. Another alternative would be a big clear plastic bag. I`d do the same. Put the cake in and carefully blow it up. You may need some help so the bag doesn`t hit the cake. Once it`s blown up you`ll need to seal the top real good. I`d twist the top and fold it over and then rubberband it so you can open it later.
If your wanting to actually put a real cake in water I would suggest using Mazapan frosting. You can seal the cake to the plate and layer to layer with the mazapan. Mazapan also doesn`t dissolve very quickly so you could put it in water and as long as no one plays with it it should hold up very well. I sure hope that this helps you. If your looking to make an immitation cake then e-mail me because that I`ve done.

Thanks Ed but it`s not for a wedding, it`s for a 8 yr old girl b-day party.

Hello.
I am just curious. Do you mean a cake with an underwater theme, or one like Ed suggests that you want to present the cake actually underwater? If you need themed ideas, I have some thoughts. Please email me at abeautifulcelebration@juno.com.
Hope to hear from you soon.

I was reading through another forum, but i can not remember where. A lady was doing a dolphin party for her 2 yr old girl and someone replied about doing an underwater theme cake, but it was mentioned something about a blue cake or something. The party is Nov 2nd, so I havn`t much time. I bought dolphins to put on top of the cake and palm trees but i need some ideas as how to do the cake etc.. Hope this clears up the confusion.
