POEMS For Deceased Mom At Wedding

My cousin (only child) is finally getting married. However, her mom..(who was her best friend), died a couple years ago from cancer. I want to read a poem for her... Letting her know, "mom", is there with her and is so very happy for her. She wants her mom there so so so bad. I think it would be the best wedding gift to her. (She has never had a dad, so it has always just been the two of them). HELP!! Thanks.
P.S. Her name is Fe` and her wedding is October 27th...so hurry!!

HI...

Just informational...

I`m getting married and my father also passed away (3 years ago). Here are some ideas I had for my wedding. I`d love to hear others.

A candle will be lit in his memory by my mom during the ceremony. I plan on making a collage of pictures of him and me or just him, which will go next to the candle. The candle will be brought to the reception after the ceremony and I will probably include a display my dad`s "famous" sayings (which are pretty hilarious), just to lighten up the mood (especially since he was never into "tear jerkers").

My fiance and I will walk down the aisle together as best friends. In my eyes, no one should replace my dad on this occassion; therefore, I`m not being traditional for the ceremony.

During the reception I am going to choose one of my father`s favorite songs and have the DJ play it in memory of him, since there won`t be a father/daughter dance.

Just some ideas...

My fiance`s mother is also deceased and we are remembering her at the ceremony with a poem in the program. We are also having two arrangements maid for the ceremony out of yellow roses (those were her flowers in her wedding) and doing a small collage to place next to them with a lantern (we are having an outdoor wedding). I fell in love with the poem and he really liked it but doesn`t want it read out loud because he is worried it will upset him too much since they were really close. I don`t know the author, I found it on a website and I believe it said author unknown. It is as follows:
If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me,
Place them in my Mother`s arms
And tell her they`re from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her,
And when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek
And hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
But there`s an ache within my heart
Because I am missing her today.

I hope this helps.

Thank you Jennifer. I will be using the poem you suggested in memory of my grandparents in my wedding this August.

We will be using the mentioned poem in honor of my dad at our wedding. We have this gorgeous picture frame that holds four pictures in one of the spaces we`ll put this poem. We`ll have one picture of my dad from 1947, one from 1997 and one from 1999 the year he died. Thanks so much for suggesting that poem.

Sorry I don`t have a poem, but I`d like to share what one of my bridesmaids did for me. My mother died a few years ago, and planning my wedding without her has been harder than I thought it would be. Anyways on the day of my bridal shower my bridesmaid gave me an angel pin to put on my bouquet to remind me that my mom is there with me.

I was given the following poem by a friend that they had found and I`m using it in my wedding, in memory of my dad.

On this day, somewhat bittersweet, the thought of you pains my heart.
I cannot help but remember the day we seemed destined to part.
I know you are looking down us us,watching from above.
Yet, how I wish you were here today showing your support, and love.
I`m all grown up now, but I still wish you were here by my side.
I need you here on the day that I am becoming a bride.
However, I cannot change the past.
All that`s left now are sweet memories.
Memories, and thoughts that in my heart will always last.
I am moving forward, but I can`t help looking back.
Thinking of you, and how you did everything in your own special way.
Because of you, I have learned to cherish each, and every single day.

Daddy, Ilove you with all of my heart. You are sadly missed, and will never be forgotten.

I am getting married in 5 days!!! But, I was looking through your site. I have some suggestions for you looking to incorporate things into your wedding. My Fiance and I both have two people we`ve lost, my grandmother and grandfather in the past few years and he lost his father and his grandmother. We bought a photo frame and put their pictures in there with the center message: "We would not be here without you..We love and Miss you". This will be placed on our head table with us.

Found this beautiful poem....

A MOTHER’S MESSAGE FROM HEAVEN

I see you, darling, all the time,
I know everything you do,
Would you believe, my dearest child
I’m even closer now to you.

For I can see inside your mind,
Indeed, inside your heart,
I even know you better now,
Than I did before, sweetheart.

I’ve always loved you – you know that,
But maybe now I love you more,
I love the adult that you’ve become,
Just as I loved the child before.

I know how much you miss me, honey,
Well, I miss you, too,
I miss our talking and our laughing,
And all we used to do.

Whether you are six or sixty,
You’ll always be my precious child,
You’re the baby that I carried,
And the adult that’s helped me smile.

What you need to understand,
Though death has taken me away,
Is that I’ve not left you, darling,
I am still with you today.

Honey, I could never leave you,
God, of course, would not want that,
Physically, we are apart,
But our hearts are still attached.

I love you all the time,
You cannot get away from me,
That’s the way a Mother is,
Right into eternity.

Every day I’m with you
I see you from above,
And I want for you to know
How very much you’re loved.
