Carnation Girl

Hello,

Has anyone ever heard of a carnation girl and bride assistants? My cousin got married last year and she had a young girl around the age of 9 to be the carnation girl. From what i can tell her role was to walk down the aisle carrying a carnation and presenting each to the mother`s. The bride assistants were her twin nephews also about 9 and i don`t remember what they did. Has anyone ever heard of these two roles. I am looking for more info.
