Jack N Jill Party

Is it in appropriate to sell tickets to a jack and jill party??
Our friends are getting married and having a very small intimate wedding... Most of the friends are not invited but i wanted to through them a party in which everyone could help celebrate there union

Since the wedding is this winter we would do a sit down dinner

Is it rude to sell tickets to help foot the cost of the party
