My Quincenera! Please Help!

Hola! Mi llamo es Esperanza.
I was wanting to have a quincenera for my birthday this year, as I`m fifteen soon, but my family is not very familiar with it.
My mother is French and my father is Hispanic. He was adopted into a Scottish family, so he doesn`t have much tradition from his blood relatives - The Martinezes. My friend, Maya, had her quincenera, but she is Cuban. I was wondering if quinceneras were only for Cuban tradiciĆ³n, or if it`s Hispanic, also...?
If it is Hispanic, could somebody tell me how to throw one??? Muchos gracias!

Esperanza,

Quincenearas are not a Cuban tradition. They are a Catholic tradition that is rooted in hispanic cultures (Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban and others). This is, loosely, a "coming out" party in a tradition similar to, but not the same as, a Bat Mitzvah.

Where do you live? Is your family religious? If so, which religion?

Why don`t you just throw in a Sweet Sixteen instead?
You don`t even know how to spell or make any sense in spanish. It would be easier on you and it would a lot more fun than a traditional quinceanera. I mean doesn`t that sound boring...
