Sweet 16

Hey everyone!
My Sweet 16 is in July and I wanted to have a Quinceanera-type party. I already bought my dress, it`s not really big and foofy but it is a formal and it`s like pale yellow and was wondering what else I should do? I know I do want a candle-lighting ceremony but I don`t know what else. Where I live there aren`t many big formal "Sweet 16s" but kind of a lot of Quinceaneras. I am either going to have it at a hall or in my grandpa`s backyard, so what do you guys think? I am reading this thing where it says stuff about shoes, crowns, rings, flowers, and dolls. Does this apply to Sweet 16s as well as quinceaneras? I don`t know exactly how much of a budget I`m going to have to spend but I imagine it won`t be in the thousands of dollers range! And I don`t want damas/chambelanes because I`m not hispanic. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Im am trying to do the same thing as you this year, have a quincenera but call it a sweet sixteen. I think the only thing that really separates the two is the church part though.I think you should go with the damas/chambelanes though, its real fun to do the dances with them. Email me if you find out anything more

Hey Jane,
I`m Erica my sister recently had a sweet 16. She had 16 partners including her and her partner. At the church she had 4 little girls carring in her shoes, crown, jewelry, compass. The shoes were a symbol of guidence, the crown was for purety, the jewlery was for beauty, and the compass was for direction. At the hall which was afterwards we all did a dance called the wasp. It was a slow song by bethovon. It was nice and i hope your`s is too. Hope i helped.

Hello there. I was just wondering if it would be wrong to have a sweet 16 in a quincenera type way with damas and chambalans would that be wrong if i am not of the hispanic type? my mom thinks its wrong but a sweet 16 is an american tradition just like a sweet 15 is for the hispanic tradition. And i know what dress i want and i have my 15 girls and me. What is the best way to save money i have people that are helping me with the d.j. And my hair but how can i also save money ? if any body can help me please thanks a lot. Amanda
