Hi duck
I`ve been to a 1940`s style ball (VE-day and all that) and my niece had her hair put up by the stylist (my hair is a 1930`s bob - so no fuss there). The stylist had found instructions on how to do it somewhere on the internet including pictures/diagrams but I don`t know the web address.
My niece`s hair was partitioned and the back section curled with tongs , sprayed and pinned, the side sections were straightened, sprayed, rolled up and pinned into place.
The whole procedure took ages and some 70 or so hairpins but it looked stunning! We danced most of the evening including some Jives and cha-chas i.e. Something a little wilder and the hair stayed up.
Good luck with the hair and have fun at the dance!
