My outdoor backyard wedding is also this September in the mountains. So my colors are Ivory and green. The bridesmaid dresses are a soft green and the accent table clothes are hunter green. Because of it being in the mountains I am using pine cones for the table centerpieces. I prefer not to use red as I didn`t want things to look too much like Christmas. I am using fall colors alot of peach and some orange. (I don`t like yellow) I would chose the colors that you like and something to compliment your bridesmaid dresses.

I liked the pinecones suggestion. Keep in mind the Scale. If there are large shrubs and trees, small flowers will get lost. Those dried fall leaves can be tucked into the actual shrubs. Look for Tulle or inexpensive fabric to swag between the chairs, to control the traffic of your guests leaving as YOU are existing the asile. Attach a simple piece of greenery from one of the shrubs to the fabric, ribbon or tulle to jazz it up a bit. A large flower, even silk, floating in a bubble bowl will work on the tables. Ask everyone you know to contribute a vase, and fill them with all the greens and one magnificent blossom. Very chic..Good luck Timi the plantlover

Large candles. Use props from your home or borrow props from friends. Candles, candles ,dried tree stems. Use Fall colors. Hope this will help you w/your decorations.

Hello, I stumbled across this by accident. I am wanting an outside wedding. I didn`t have a wedding the first time I got married and I want a very nice one. I don`t have alot of money and I can get married at my mom`s and step-dad`s. That is what I am planning. But, I dont` even know the first thing about planning. I like the colors that you all have mentioned above. But I like yellow too.

I plan on getting married in Oct. Or Nov. Of 2004 if not before.

Please email me with suggestions.

Thanks and good luck to you all.......

FInd lots of inexpensive fabric. Make sure it stands out from the shrubs, maybe something lighter in color. Buy lots of it, and place it as toppers on the tables, tucks throughout the seating, or as swags. Find something you like so you can use it again in your new home. Use it for table runners, napkins, window swags. If you are going seasonal, you can pull it all out every year to reuse. Some of the big disount super stores still have fabric departments, check them. Check at the end of one season, all that stuff will be half price.

Say you don`t know where to start planning. Categorize all the events: showers, rehearsal, ceremony, reception, and put it all in a binder or bound tablet. Start thinking of things you like or don`t like and write them all down. Carry this booklet with you everywhere. Put some plastic bags in it for samples of ribbons, papers, etc. There are lots of free wedding planners on the net, download one to get your idea`s flowing. Enlist your friends and family, and make the whole journey comfortable and relaxed. Good luck, Timi the plantlover

To Elizabeth, sorry you came across mine, i hope from some of the things people listed you might think of some things to add to your wedding. I was reading in another one, that you could use brown paper bags cut moons and stars into them and place flash lights in them to light up your way if it is dark when you have your wedding, also another idea is to get mason jars fill them with different color sand at different levels and then add your favorit candles to them. Its just a few ideas, hope you like them. Congrats on getting married.

I think that is a cute idea. If I get married, I want it to be around like 6 that evening. I just am not too sure on really what to do.

If you or anyone else has any ideas on colors for say Bridesmaid or Matron of Honor, Please send to me.

I have No idea on what to do and if it is in the Fall that we decide, I want to know what is appropriate.

Thanks,

I too am planning an outdoor wedding for late summer early fall. We can`t afford a DJ, let-alone a reception hall so we are having our wedding at my parents farm. No one on either side of our families dance (except maybe ten) so we are going to have vollyball, kickball, and baseball available. Later in the evening we will start a bonfire. Abig part of our decorations will be mason jars. My flowers will go in to a jar on the head table, votives will be placed in them and then either hung from trees or placed alone the drive-way. I have two father figures who I love very much, instead of chosing between the two, my son is going to walk me down the aisle. All four parents will answer when asked who is giving me away. Raid all the decorations you can get from other things white christmas lights vaces bowls to float candles in or to put mints in. Buy a ham or turkey and have a buffet make as much in advence as possible. Borrow tables and linens from others we borrowed chairs from the morchuary. Yard sales I got a lot of decorations at yard sales and consignment shops. Used dresses are cheeper a lot of them are selling cheeper on ebay now. Have your bridesmaids pay for there own dresses. For real cost cutting on bridesmaid dresses buy used and set a color not all matching. Its often cheeper. Good will in our area some dresses are 5-120 dollors for some really nice ones.

My cousin had a fall-themed wedding. She and her husband went to a local park, collected acorns, and filled the glass globes with the acorns and fake fall leaves. She had orange votives on the top, Her bridesmaid`s dresses were stone colored and they had orange, red, and yellow flowers. It looked very nice!
