Combining Father/Daughter And Mother/Son Dances

My fiance and I are two months from our wedding. We were going to try to combine the father/daughter and mother/son dances to make the traditional parts go a little faster so everyone can have a good time. Any suggestions for songs for both?

Wow, a whole 8 minutes total wasted on such a silly thing like a father/daughter and mother/son dance... Because that really puts a damper on the whole 4-5 hour thing. I`m sure your parents feel that way too.......

I really do not understand why people post replies if they are just going to be stupid. I feel the same way as you; there are so many "traditional" dances. Not that you HAVE to do them all, but there are a lot. You have the 1st dance, grand march (with a dance following), the garter & bouquet tosses, father/daughter, mother/son, etc. That is a lot to do and it takes up a good hour. So, if you can cut down on even one of those, so be it. I really do not have any good suggestions for songs, I just wanted to say that I think some people on this board are really ignorant for posting messages that completely rip on others. It`s not your wedding, who cares what she does!!

It`s not just the two of us who want to combine these dances. His father won`t even dance at all! His mother doesn`t really care that much and my dad says he`ll do whatever. We just want to be able to get the pictures, etc. They both said they don`t need (nor want) to be the center of attention. They just want to have fun at the wedding.

Missy,

"What A Wonerful World" is a great song to combine the Father/Daughter & Mother/Son dances. You can start off with just you and your father and then have your fiance` and his mother join in the second verse.

I`ve used this on several weddings that I`ve performed at and it really works great! Hope this helps
