Wedding Invitations

My daughter is getting married out of state, is it proper to invite friends that I work with to the bridal shower, even though they will not be invited to the wedding. Also my daughter (her sister) and I are giving the bridal shower,is its proper to have my name (the mother) on the invitation as one of the persons giving the shower?
