Something Different For Invitations

Hi there, I really want something DIFFERENT and very elegant for my engagement party invitations. I am from Australia and was thinking about perhaps a telegram or something similiar. Our wedding is going to be very formal and therefore I want our engagement party to be the same. Can anybody offer me any suggestions??? Would love to hear from anybody.
