I Do Or Do Not?

I am thinking about becoming a wedding planner. Everything about the job interest me.....Except? I have four boys, they are 6,8,12, and 14. I have a great person to watch them while I work. My question is are there any wedding planners with kids or is it a single person kind of job? Considering how Much work there is to do as a wedding planner am I being realistic in my thinking of becoming one? Also I`m wondering, does a wedding planner have to be at the wedding?

Yes, you do need to be at the wedding, your the wedding planner, the one who takes care of EVERYTHING. Although people with kids do it, you might find it hard with your kids still being young. Its not your typical 40 hour a week, 9-5 job. Do it part time at first, 1 or 2 weddings a month (1 at the beginning one at the end) and see how well you balance that and family life. If you think you can handle it, step it up another notch, 3-4 weddings a month. Keep going until you find your comfort and balance level. You need to remember these couples are hiring you to basically be thier wedding slave, and be able to answer their every call, be at their every fitting, vendor meeting, etc. They are probably not going to understand if you can`t go for a tasting because your kids are sick or you can`t get a sitter for that night. If you get to a point where more business is coming your way and you don`t think you can handle it, hire an assistant part time. Good luck, I hope this helps!
