Wedding Coordinator Or Not?
My mother is thinking that it would be really nice to have a professional help us plan our wedding. Is it really that helpful and how much do they usually cost?

I`m planning a wedding without a wedding planner. I`m on schedule. I do research on the internet and read bridal magazines.
Most important, I get advice from people who know me, and know my style. Advice that I can trust. Get recommendations from people who are familar with the city I live in.
I also get my finace to do some task.
We keep track of all the important information on a bridal website, financing, guest list, registry, etc.

There are 2 common misconceptions about wedding coordinators.
1) You don`t need help. You`re doing just great with the planning, and have it all under control.
Yes, you can do it all yourself. But wouldn`t you or your mother rather be spending time with your family and guests than giving directions to late guests, finding the cakeknife, or chasing down more tiolet paper?
A wedding consultant can help you with the planning - but they work for you, you are in charge, and you make the decisions. The wedding coordinator then implements that plan, makes it happen. You can`t necessarily do it all yourself at that point because your job is being the bride. The benefit of having a coordinator involved from the start allows the wedding team of vendors to function together more smoothly -there is no rehearsal for that, it has to be right the first time. If you`ve overlooked something in the contract, the wedding coordinator has miminal opportunity to fix it on your wedding day.
2) Consultants/coordinators are too expensive.
Whether you`re spending $1000, $10,000 or $50,000 on your wedding, it`s the biggest, most important day in your life. You`re bringing together up to 35 different vendors to make this event happen the way you want it. This board and others are loaded with horror stories and "things I would have done differently." While having a coordinator cannot guarantee "perfect," the cost of a coordinator provides assurance that everything will happen as you`ve planned it. So I ask, can you afford NOT to have a coordinator?
