Need Suggestion On Evening Beachside Wedding
We are going to have an evening wedding at this oceanfront resort, huts and palm trees scattered around the outdoor reception area. This is a destination wedding. Electricity is limited to the kitchen only. We will have candles on the ground and the tables, and 8 torches. We need more lighting and are thinking of using lanterns on the trees, but there are three issues with this: 1. The trees are palm trees and real lanterns are too heavy for the branches. 2. We are not sure how lanterns look like on palm tree branches, would they look nice, or just too busy? 3. What kind of lanterns? We are thinking of using acolyte tealight (battery) candles put inside favor bags. The bags are made of either organza or crystal clear soft PVC plastic, with four sides edged with satin ribbon and have an organdy gathered top closed with a ribbon pull string. Otherwise, should we buy paper lanterns? We want something that doesn`t look bulky/stuffy. Glass chandeliers would be ideal, but not feasible because of the palm trees. I am not a decoration expert (very lousy at this!). Could some more talented members advise please. Thanks :)

You might try running an extention cord from the kitchen and use some christmas lights with tulling...it is really romantic and cheap.

Thanks for the suggestion :)
Btw, we can order chandeliers from vellum papers, and then we hang them with fishing line. So, they will be really lightweight. Like in this url, but we will make them a lot smaller. It isn`t very expensive when ordered from local vendors, as this is a destination wedding.

The candle weight is about 19 grams each, and the lanterns will be of paper weight. So I think it is doable. Just not sure whether chandeliers hanging down from palm tree branches will look good though. We are thinking of having them at varying heights. Could you offer an opinion?
We can get the wireless candles at about 1 dollar each. We can spend 200-300 bucks on candles, since tropical flowers are very cheap there. Additionally, we will have 8 torches, and some candles on the floor. From pictures of past weddings, the floor candles and the torches alone are not sufficient to get good pictures...
