Oh my god! We are in the EXACT same situation! My fiance and I are getting married on July 19 at the courthouse. Then, next July 19, once we have saved up some money, we are going to have a big "wedding" type event where we will renew our vows. Neither one of us wanted to sacrifice the joy that comes with that big day, but because he is in the service, we need to be married soon. So we are just going to celebrate next year on our one year anniversary.
Here was our origial plan, just in case you want to know. We got online and found a small chapel that does a small ceremony in 30 minutes with just the family for $100. Then, we were planning a barbecue type party at his house for extended family and friends (about $500). Then we were going to go on a trip accross east Texas, staying in little hotels along the way and just spending time together, with no real destination in mind. (about $400)
And just out of curiosity, you said that he had to leave shortly after. Will you be going with him? Because we will be apart for about 6 months after we get married. I was just wondering what y`alls plans are.
Anyway, I hope that this has been of some help and feel free to email me if you have any more questions or just want to talk; I know how very frustrating this is!

Good Luck,
Lauren

Hi! I am working with a budget of about 1500 dollars, so we`re in similar predicaments. Also, my fiance is in the Navy and will be leaving after we`re married, too! We should start a support group for military wives! lol
Anyways...

I called around town & found a reception center that does daytime weddings for $850. If you want to have the ceremony there, it`s another $250, so it`s 1100 all together, but they do the decorations, food, DJ, everything. So, we`re going with that & now all we have to worry about is hiring a photographer for $500 or less. :)
Also, I am renting my dress for $100. Call around - I`m sure you can find a place to rent one. Or, look in prom shops. I was at the mall the other day, and there was a formalwear shop having a clearance sale - they had BEAUTIFUL white prom gowns (organza skirt, pearls, the whole 9 yards) for under 100 smackers! It`ll take some legwork, but you can TOTALLY do your wedding for under a grand. Good luck! Feel free to email me at barbsieboo@yahoo.com if you get stuck, or if you come up with any brilliant ideas you feel like sharing! :) Happy Wedding!

I have a friend that does her wedding shots for under $1000. Infact, the highest price package is $1100 and her lowest is around $300. Let me give you her new business site at Party Pop.com. Duh, we are on Party Pop,sorry. Anyways the website is on here at:

Check her out and see what she can do for you? I think she already has a post on here?

For a reception site, look into state parks. I found an Assembly Hall in a big State Park that seats 250, has a kitchen and fireplace, and provides tables and chairs, all for $15 an hour! It`s a beautiful building too, stone. Go to your state`s site and search parks, they should have a price list for rental of cabins and meeting places. The cabins are usually really cheap for what it comes with too. Good Luck!

Hi. I am planning my wedding for $1000.00 and here`s what I`ve done so far: purchased my $700.00 wedding dress for $250.00 at a bridal expo to benefit breast cancer, using a local park for free for the ceremony and reception, serving a brunch of mainly sidedishes homemade, no alcohol to pay for, my shoes were $7.00 on clearance at Sears, I`m making my garter for $.77, making my veil for $2.00, made my own invitations including envelopes $15.00. I plan to get disposable cameras for guests to take pictures and use a professional photographer for a few shots. My sister will be taking our engagement pictures. I will probably order my cake from Albertson`s. Any other questions email me at icecreamplz@yahoo.com.

A PRIVATE WEDDING MAYBE WITH JUST BEST FRIENDS AND PARENTS. THEN A RECEPTION AT A PARK BUFFET IN THE MORNING I CHEAP. A DINNER WITH CLOES FRIENDS. A PARY AFTERWARD AT A CLUB WILL DO. IF YOU WANT MORE PEOPLE YOU WOULD HAVE TO BORROW THINGS, GET PEOPLE TO PAY FOR THE OWN THINGS, HAVE FAMILY OR FRIENDS FILM AND TAKE PICTURES AND FIND A VOLINTEER DJ. CALL LOCAL SCHOOL AND ASK AROUND. YOU WILL BE SURPRISE AT HOW INEXPENSIVE PEOLE ARE WHEN REFERRED.gOOD LUCK!

Wow. Just the church fees alone were $350 for our wedding, plus $100 for the marriage license.

Wow, you folks are great! What wonderful ideas! Here`s a couple more...

Enter every contest that you can! One of my brides won her reception at a showcase. 16 other tickets were pulled before hers. She won because she got there late so she was staying till the end.

If your newspaper has a wedding section see if they want to do a human interest story. Vendors will often donate services for the free publicity.
Sign the paperwork at town hall for the $25.00 then have a friend read a nice one that you put together yourself at the reception. Preface it perhaps with something like... "Although a reccord of the contractual obligations, acknowledging that there has been a legally binding obligation made, which is recognized by the state of __________, has been filed, The public pledging of your hearts and souls to one another for a lifetime has not taken place yet. This dear friends and family is what you have been invited here today to share in."

Any volunteer firemen among your friends? Here in NY they get use of the house meeting rooms free.

Try a local establishment that the building fits your needs. Bring your own food, decorate yourself and offer them how ever many guests you have for a cash bar on like a Sunday afternoon when they`ll be quiet anyway.

Good luck! I`m sure it will be wonderful!

Hey, future military wives!

One of the tremendous benefits of marrying someone in the military is the circle of support you get from other military wives. Network with them! I`ve helped with numerous weddings where the cost was considerably less than 1000 due to the help of others who were once in the same situation! Get ahold of your local VFW auxillary. They may be able to help you meet other military wives to help. See about borrowing a dress...you may even be able to borrow all of your accessories. Borrow a strand or two of twinkle lights from each person`s christmas stash...

We offer a complete wedding package for less than 1000.00 if you are interested, but it doesn`t include the site or your dress. We will be happy to work with you to keep costs as low as possible!
