Cheap Centerpiece

I am looking for some ideas for cheap centerpieces. I am getting married in June 2003 and would like to have roses in the centerpieces. The problem is I am going to have approx. 40 some tables. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

I`m using rose shaped floating candles in mine, with some glitter and maybe wedding confettii sprinkled all over the table...may sound weird, but the candle and the glass for the water are sold as a set, at family dollar for $3! hey, i`m poor, lol...but they do NOT look cheap at all! espesially if you were to put little mirrors underneath them....well, they are roses :) worth a shot :) maybe that would be a good alternative.
Good Luck

Go to a pet store, per table: get one small bowl, two cheap fishes like goldfish and get some color stones to put on the bottom. Unique!

My suggestion: marthastewart.com. She has a million great, CHEAP ideas for the creative bride. One idea is what`s called a "citrus centerpiece" -- a glass bowl filled with lemons, grapefruit and yellow ribbons -- that I`m changing to apples and red ribbon for my fall wedding. It`s inexpensive, interesting and is something your guests will be happy to take home!

Renee.. You could always go with the faux roses, i`m probably going to use these for mine, i like the look of them, but they are so expensive, i would try to see if you can find a wholesaler in your are, that way you can get a good price!

For my wedding I am taking 3 little candle bowels (you can usually get them at Micheal`s for $0.99 cents each or less). You put a different kind of flower or colored ribbon in each bowel and then stack them all on top of each other. Finish it up with a big ribbon tied around all three from the bottom to the top with the bow of the ribbon on the top bowel. Make sure not to fill the bowels too full.

My wedding is going to be in dec 2002 and i am going to have approx 35 tables. What i am doing is getting a dozen pink and white roses(5.95 a dz at a local floral shop and it matces my color theme) and and arranging them myself with cheap vases from garden ridge and styrofoam balls from micheals. It comes out to be about 10 dollars per table, so that does total about 350 dollars, but its nice and simple and beautiful. Also i am planning to add marbles to the bottom of the vase and add a sparkly white glitter to the tabletops around the centerpiece.

Gee, Alexandra-that REALLY goes with the roses theme! Fish?! OY! I HOPE you were teasing!
Get large brandy snifters (Hobby Lobby, etc.) & place them on either a square mirror tile or just on the table. Either way, place
A large rose bud with some baby`s breath in the snifter. (With water, of course) You could go with the grocery store roses,
They aren`t as good a quality as floral shops, but, for centerpieces, they would be fine.
You could go with some greenery around the outside of the base of the snifter.
OR, you could get a cylinder candle holder, put a candle fatter than a taper (or a taper, but, they may not last as long) but,
Not as fat as a pillar in it. Place this on a mirror tile or just on the table. Get some rose petals. You could use the silk. They are
Beautiful & reasonably priced. Sprinkle them around the cylinder base. Perhaps some glitter in the cylinder to keep the candle
From shifting. Put the glitter the color of your scheme in the cylinder base up about 1/4 of the way (use your judgement on the
Depth) & when you light the candle, the glow from the glitter will be awesome! Just make sure the cylinder has a bottom!
These are just a few cheap ideas I have. There are a million things you can do to dress up your tables! No matter what, it will
Be a little costly with as many tables as you are having. But, the look will be amazing! By all means! Incorporate candles into
Your reception! It will look elegant & you will feel like you spent a million bucks when you didn`t!!!

I created really nice (not expensive) rose centerpieces for a wedding I did in May. They were dried rose bud wreaths. I used pink, mauve and burgundy flowers hot-glued to 10" grapevine wreaths. Then, I placed small glass globe vases and floating candles in the center of the wreath. They looked beautiful and coordinated perfectly with the wedding colors. All for about $15 each.

What about green ivy topiary`s with a couple of fresh roses picked into them with some sheer or satin ribbon to match your color scheme.

Have you considered a spray rose topiary centerpiece? Visit UniqueFloralExpressions.com and click on the Rehearsal/Reception tab to see a sample. To make these yourself, you can buy a 6" clay pot at Michael`s craft store for about 80 cents. Sponge paint it with terra cotta paint (to seal in moisture) and hot glue a cork, stone, etc. Into the hole in the bottom of the pot. Then place a chunk of wet oasis in the pot, and cover with moss. Gather together 5-10 stems of spray roses (available for $5 at a farmer`s market) and insert the stems into the center of the oasis. Tie a coordinating ribbon around the base of the flower heads, and you have a gorgeous rose topiary for under $8 each.

How about miniature potted roses? you can place them in simple containers (they don`t have to match!) that you can get from the salvation army or any thrift store! line the containers with beautiful netting, tulle, handmade paper or colored tissue paper that matches your color scheme.
Good luck!

Hi, if you are doing flowers you could always ask all your friends for their old vases. I asked all my friends for any vases that they did not use. I was able to get 20 vases that all mached (the ones that you get with flowers from old BF) and they were all free!

I did my center pieces for less than $5 a table, I found rod iron candle holders at the $1 store and they hold 4 tapers,we have 30 tables to do so I needed 120 taper candles which I found for less than $45, I then hot glued a single rose bud with babys breath on one side and a green leaf on the other and they turned out beautiful and a lot cheaper than I could have ever expected.

Try Ivy bowls with a fake/ silk rose glued to the bottom then fill it with water. YOu can buy the ivy bowls at michaels crafts and fake/silk rose at a dollar store for a bundle. Tie a ribbon around the neck of the bowl. If you like there`s also this stuff called Moisture Plus. They`re white/clear bits that absorbs water and turns clear when you add enough water. It`ll suspend glitter making it look like the glitter is suspended in the water. YOu can even add a candle on top. If you don`t want to use the moisture plus use a floating candle. Really pretty. I used Vanilla scented ones in my wedding the REception smelled of beautiful Vanilla

Thanks Alexandra for the great idea! I did most of the planning of my brothers wedding and I went with the gold fish and marbles at the bottom. We bought tiled mirrors and placed the fish on top of one and also put about 5 tealights around the bowls. They looked so beautiful! I got compliments from everyone and by the end of the night they were all fighting for the fish. Not to mention the kids! Thanks so much for your help!

But the poor fish! I bet they pay a price for being your decorations. I can just see sloshed wedding guests pouring liquor in with them or tipping them over or something. What a horrible idea!

Hey, I am in search of centerpieces for my wedding also. But I don`t have that many tables!!! Just 15 - anyway... I know that you were interested in Roses, and I know that they are expensive. One idea, which is off of an idea my sister did for her wedding, is Chocolate Pops in the shapes of roses. Then you can buy an inexpensive flower pot - and make an edable arrangement. I know my sister did chocolate pops shaped like roses as her favors for her wedding, but I have seen them done to replace real flowers as a centerpiece. Just an idea, and buying the molds and chocolate are inexpensive if bought in bulk. You could use styrophom in the pot and put Raffia to cover it. You can also make the pops be your favors too... You could put the printed ribbons on them and after the wedding each person can take one right out of the centerpiece. Just an idea - you have ALOT of table to do and this could be a way to get your roses and make enough centerpieces for that many tables...I myself are in search of cost effective Topiary... Good Luck!!

I`m getting married June 20th 2003, and what I`m thinking of doing as a centerpiece for each table is putting a picture of my fiance and I in a frame, and then maybe putting some confetti or else rose petals around it. I think my guests would find it interesting to look at all the pictures.

We`ll have 25-30 6` tables (long, not round) and I`m wondering if one centerpiece per table is enough or if we should use 2. Has anyone decorated this size table?

The tables in our church basement where I`m getting married are very long tables. I can`t remember the exact size, but I will be putting 2 centerpieces on the long tables. We also have shorter tables that I will be putting only one centerpiece.

I am buying hurricane candle holders at gardenridge for .98 cents and will put a small blue taper candle ( to match wedding colors ) in it, I will also take fake flowers or a flower candle ring and put it around it The candle costs about .40 cents and the seperate base for the hurricane holder is about 1.00. Candles always make things look elegant and it doesn`t cost much either. Good luck!!

Here is what I am doing:
I am putting down some scrunched up silver metallic sheer fabric and then at each table, I am putting a couple of pictures of me and my fiance from all ages in silver frames. Then I am putting a handful of rose petals around each section....like confetti. The flower shop is just saving broken roses that they can`t sell and then I will use the petals. Very very inexpensive.
