Someone Please Help!!

I was proposed to last night by my boyfriend of 4 years. I of course said "yes". His mom is already asking what kind of wedding we want, and when the date is. We have no idea, infact we talked baout just getting married by ourselves and having a big reception. But when we told his mom that, she said well if money is the issue, we can just go get married and they sshe will throw us a hugh reception. My mom had no money to help us, is it ok to let HIS parents buy it all?? we are broke also...

Thanks,
Shannon

Its okay if your okay with it. But be prepared for them getting more of what they want rather than of what you really want. You could also offer to pay them back over time if you feel guilty having them pay. Hope that helps, good luck.

I, personally, think it is better if you and your dear fiance try to make a weddding budget and start saving your money. There is no rush to get married so maybe you should try to wait until you have a little money to have a wedding and to start a new life together with. You have to do what you are comfortable with but a wedding should be whatever the two of you want to have. If you want a big wedding, then save for a big wedding. If you want to elope and have a reception then do that. Whatever is going to make the two of you happy is what is important. The only thing I would be really careful about is letting anyone, your parents or his parents, take too much control of your life or make you feel like you "owe" them for life. That is a bad way to start a marriage. I am 33 years-old and my fiance is 46. We have been together for almost 3 years and I am in nursing school so I wouldn`t get married until I had the money saved up to do so, which we will be getting married in December. He proposed to me almost 3 years ago and we have been planning our wedding for that long. I guess if you aren`t in any hurry I would take your time, think things through, and then decide the how, when, where, and why of the wedding.........Good luck to you and God Bless you and your new engagement!!!!!!
