How Do You Make Chair Cover Sashes?

I would like to find out how to make sashes for chair covers. I have already rented the covers but I want to make the sashes chocolate brown. I was looking for wide ribbon so I don`t have to hem anything (don`t have a sewing machine).
Thanks!

Hello, I am also looking for sashes, but polyester sashes, during my two weeks research I found something that my work for you, ebay has a sellers that offer you sashes samples for a little of 0.99 cents and free shipping, prices go higher depending on the seller, also you can go to fabric.com they have great prices of satin organza and more, if you contact one of the ebay sellers (Make sure they have a great feedback) ask them a question, most of them can find the color you need even if is not shown on their chart if you are willing to wait a little longer, I hope this helps you / Katia

Andrea, the cheapest way for you to make sashes is to buy a bolt of tulle fabric and cut 3 yard long by 12" wide. You don`t have to hem them, and they look awesome around a chir cover. Bunch them up a little so that you can see the color, but no company carries wide enough brown ribbon, the widest is probably about 2-1/2" and it runs about $3.00 per yard, when you are lucky enough to find it. Hope this helps. By the way, you can get brown tulle fabric from Walmart for about $1.00 per yard for a 54" wide piece. Cut your 3 yard piece and fold to make 5 equally long pieces, use scissors and cut.
