Newport Wedding

I am having a Newport, RI wedding in 2006. I want to make a weekend affair out of it (rehersal dinner Friday night, wedding Saturday and bridal brunch Sunday) because Newport is a couple hours away from my immediate family and friends, everyone in the wedding party would have to stay the weekend in Newport. Does anyone know if we should pay for their stay or if its their responsibility? Also, does anyone have any opinions on weddings in Newport? Thanks a bunch for any info provided!
