Marrying An American

I am english and my fiancee is american. We wish to marry in the summer 05. If I enter the usa under the visa free waiver program and get married and return to the uk within the 3 month period and then apply for the greencard is that possible?

If you get married in America, to an american citizen, you are by law an american citizen by marriage, but the marriage has to last I think 2 years in order for you to have permanant american citizen status. Hope this helps! Good luck!! =)

Okay - the former response is almost right. You do not automatically become an American citizen once you are married. After two years of being legally married, you may then apply for permanant residence (green card). Once you have received your green card it will take another 5 years before you can apply for citizenship of the US. Pretty much the only difference on the surface between residency & citizenship is your right to vote. As a permanent resident (green card holder) you are not allowed to vote, as a citizen you can. Hope this helps! :)

Can anybody help me on this one?

I want to marry my US fiancee who is a US citizen and I`m already in the US working under an E2 visa. Do I still need a Kx visa?

Once you are here in USA and married, you dont have to go back.. But have to start immigration procedures and takes about five years.. Expensive and they will send eveyrthing back to you that you sent if you forget to cross your "T"s and dot your "i"s.. No kidding. Good luck..
