Platinum Engagement Ring & Gold Wedding Bands

Hi,
I was just wondering what you guys think. I`ve got a beautiful platinum ring from my fiance, and was expecting to get platinum bands to go with it. But my parents gave us their bands--very beautiful--gold. Both mean a lot to me. Is it appropriate to wear both? Should I wear them on different hands? Thanks for any advice!
