Wedding Shop Owner / Saleswoman

Hello everyone. I ordered a Euro Bride dress in a local wedding shop (not a large chain) The dress is beautiful and I knew from day 1 that it was the dress I wanted. It was bought and paid for quickly. The shop measured me and tried a size 16 dress on me (as that is all they had there) and they said the 18 would be fine. The dress arrived and 3 months ago they asked me to stop by and try it on the shop owner was horrible to me really slated me saying I was too fat for the dress and all the seams have to come out it wont do up at the back etc etc, she really dented my self esteem and upset me. I went on a crash diet immediately even though my clothes are not any tighter and have maintaned the same size for the last 2 yrs.

I rang the shop about 3 days later saying I was worried that if I do not lose the weight necessary what would happen. A different saleswoman (who is lovely!) seemed confused and asked me to call by again to try and dress on incase there was an error. She put the dress on me it did up at the back, and fitted perfectly. The shop owner it seems was just being horrible and nasty to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! which I gave her no reason to as I was really excited about my fitting.

Now I have to have my final fitting. The (nice) shop assistant is off work (sick) and I have a feeling it is long term sick and I have to endure being abused by this shop owner once more. She really upset me last time. My appointment was for last week but I made an excuse and cancelled, hoping the other saleswoman would be back in work as I do not want any more dealings with the shop owner.

Any of you have advice! I know it sounds stupid but this woman made me feel so worthless and it was totally without reason and very unnecessary!

Regards JLC

I totally feel for you. I have met my share of people that think anyone over a size 10 aren`t worth getting to know! (I`m bigger than you are by the way).

My suggestion - don`t go to the dress fitting alone. Bring one of your bridesmaids. You might even want your friend to slip a small tape recorder into her purse so anything the shop owner says to you that is rude and un called fo can be reported to the better business bearue and if need be a complaint filed with other agencies claiming discriminatioin and unfair treatment.

PERSONALLY i THINK YOU SHOULD report her to the better business beureau. What a nasty person! Don`t let someone get you down on the best day of your life! I am sure you will be a beautiful bride! I would also mention to her in a polite casual way that you felt she was rude and that you would appreciate her not discriminating against you- Tell her about herself!
