I found this link which is very informative about the actual ceremony itself. You could incorporate elements of the ceremony into the reception, i.e. The use of the crowns. There is also a tradition in russia which takes place at the registry where the bride and groom bite into a piece of bread. The bread symbolizes health long life and prosperity. I remember on a visit to Moscow seeing the brides and grooms laying their wedding bouquets at the tomb of the unknown soldier. Many used red roses in their bouquets.

Hey,
I’m originally from that area, basically there is two types of wedding that you can host. One you can use a church, where a priest would actually use a crown for both groom and bride. The second choice is justice of the peace wedding (more common type of wedding). Based on the specific part of country tradition varies, just like here.
The more important part is the wedding dinner, usually its made to be fun, loud and wild is some cases. Bases on the wedding that I have attended, most of the celebrations lasted for several days.
If you have any further questions, for what to know about some other traditional things, feel free to e-mail.
