1958 Wedding Theme, Need Ideas
I am getting married in April 2006. My fiance and I both want to do a 1958 wedding theme "Roses and Records" our colors are dark red and pale pink.
I am pretty sure I want the ushers dressed as greasers (black leather jackets, light pink tee shirts, dress blue jeans) and the grooms men dressed as letter men - (black dress slacks, dark red shirts, black ties and white lettermen sweater with an R on the pocket - grooms last inital).
The brides maids I am thinking about poodle skirts but want something a little fancier. My sister suggested maybe getting those starchy ruffly slips that peek out at the bottom like when we are watching the dance scene in Grease (where the kids are on tv). Anyone know where I can get poodle skirts in plus sizes and the fancy underslips? Also want record and roses decal rather than a poodle. Where can I get that? Anyone know of any great stores online?
I am open to suggestions on the clothes, esp for the women as that is the one I am not certain about. I have no clue what I will be wearing either.
I am sure I will be posting as I go along on here, we have barely begun working on our plans. So far the only things we know for sure are that the service will be held at our church, the receptioin will be held at a nearby park in an enclosed pavillon (with heat), and we will have a band that will play oldies music.
The rest we are working on - pretty sure we are not going to use a caterer, too many good cooks in the wedding party that can just contribute and we are going to rent the linens, dance floor, etc. So I am sure as I go along I will be back to post over and over.
For now though help with the clothes please! Where can I get vintage style clothes that will fit all of my wedding party (all of us are over a size 14).
Any dress makers in my area that anyone can recommend if I need to get something made or altered?
Thank you!
Vendors that service the NE Ohio area (I am near Canton), are welcome to offer their services here too.

Dear Neona:
I think this is a wonderful and fun idea! What I wouldn`t have given to live in the fifties and wear all of the great clothes!! If you would like some help, I would be happy to assist you. I live in Massillon. Please feel free to email me at Kimber0613@aol.com.
Have a Rockin` Day!
