How Do You Do A Money Tree For A Shower?

I`m planning to have a Jack and Jill Shower for my nephew and his bride to be. It will be a summer BBQ at our home. They are hoping to receive cash gifts to pay for their honeymoon in Costa Rica. I have heard of collecting money on a Money tree but have never seen it done.
Advice?

Honestly, showers are to shower the couple with gifts for their new home. Even if they have everything.....there is always something they need or would like to have. It is not to pay for their honeymoon!!!! if they can`t afford a trip to Costa Rica that is their problem to deal with....maybe they should try a cheaper honeymoon destination. But it is not up to their friends and family to put their funds together to send them on a vacation. Does this also mean that they are going to request money for wedding gifts too?? people are not required to bring a gift....thats why they are called gifts! i think it is a very touchy thing to do is have a shower only for money.....i would never do it. I have heard of people throwing a gift card shower and that is acceptible because it is still used to buy things for their new house. It is not a cash card...they must purchase something.

I think it`s a tacky idea.

Instead of a money tree, think of a card box. Maybe decorated with an airplane and saying something like "Honeymoon Fund"

When you issue the shower invites, you can tactfully word what the couple is wanting.

"For those of you wanting to bring a gift for the couple and aren`t sure what to give, the couple is requesting the amount of money you would like to spend on a gift be given in leu of the actual gift to put torwards their honeymoon expenses".
