Alternatives To Doves

What alternative can I use in place of doves? My wedding will be in the evening so it wouldn`t be nice to release doves outside the church. I`m not too keen on releasing them inside the reception venue either because it could be messy. What else can I use?

I saw a wedding on TV where the guests were given little bells to ring and to keep as a momento. If your church has bells then maybe you can arrange to have the bells ring.
