Mother Of The Groom Dress

Can the Mother of the Groom wear a dress that is patterned at the top with a jacket to mathc IF it has an ivory skirt OR does the "no white-no ivory" rule apply? The dress is very tasteful but has a tea length ivory skirt. In no way could it be confused as a wedding dress, but becase there IS a portion of solid ivory visible (the jacket comes to the hips) is there anyway that this could be considered a faux pas?

I believe you can wear it without worry, most of those "rules" have been softened in the last few years. But, if I were you I would ask the Bride if she had a problem with it. It is her day, if she doesn`t have a problem with it no one else should either. Good Luck!
