KNOCKOFFS???

Has anyone bought a knockoff designer dress before? I`m thinking about it because funds are low, but I know that there are horror stories. If anyone could give me their opinion, I`d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi -

You do want to buy from a reputable dealer. There are great look alikes out there. We offer authentic gowns as well as a few look alikes (for example, Maggie Sottero Vogue, Ian Stuart Valentine, David`s Bridal and Sincerity Bridal). You can find us at www.BridalGown.NET. We are happy to answer any quetions or concerns.

A good copy will not be dirt cheap. It should be less expensive than the designer gown by 1/3 to 1/2. Many people think they can get a copy for nothing, Like most everything you get what you pay for...
A good one is well worth it

I have NO misconceptions. I never said that you could get a seamstress to do a custom design for that price. No one asked about a custom made gown but rather a "knock-off"
I DO NOT think a custom gown should be cheaper, that is a ludricris idea. But, this is a common assumption that many people have. They think it will be much cheaper to have something hand made rather that factory made.
The 1/3 to 1/2 figure comes from the fact that many factories can duplicate a designer gown well for 1/3 to 1/2 less that a designer label gown.
FACT-- The Maggie Sottero Dion is about $1200.00. You can get a very good copy (knock-off) that is all but indistinguishable for about $599.00. Of course, you can get cheaper ones, but it looks cheap. The fabric, beading and overall workmanship will not be as high quality.
Also, nothing was said pertaining to your comment about "getting a gown cheaper than in a store". In fact I am referring to buying a gown in a store. I have owned a bridal shop for 13 years I do have some knowledge of the subject.
Again, I have no misconceptions.

As far as who commented on a custom gown costing more....I wasn`t talking about that....hence the "KNOCKOFF" part. Anyways, not everyone has mommy and daddy paying for their precious, so they can`t afford to pay thousands of dollars. Also, no one cares about why you can and can`t afford certain dresses....not that it`s their business, but I think people that have a lot of other responsibilities should be able to get the gown they want at a not such a ridiculous price.
