Alternative To Unity Candle...Please Help!!!
My wedding is outdoors and my bridesmaids and I were discussing whether or not a unity candle will stay lit...and I`m thinking that it won`t. I`ve heard of a thing where two small vases are filled, one with yellow water, one with blue water and the middle larger vase is used to combine the yellow and blue water to make green water, which symbolizes the blending of two different lives to make one. Does anyone know what this is called or how to introduce it at the ceremony?? Please help!!!

Hi, I am getting married outside as well and had the same issues about the unity candle. We decided to take beach sand from the lake he grew up at and the lake I visited during the summers when I was little. Then we will mix them together into a wine carafe to keep forever. I hope this tip helps.-Tracy

If you want another alternative go to ALL MESSAGES and go under Alternative for a Unity Candle.

I just came up with this idea because my location doesn`t allow candles.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 Says "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." We are having each of our parents hold a cord and our minister will give us one at the right time. When he gives us ours, we will go retrieve the other two from our parents and tie them together. It has a double meaning: the joining of families and the joining of our lives under Christ. I had to write the vows myself because I just made the idea up. Good luck.

Hello,
I had my wedding outside and there was a breeze. My unity candle did stay lit. :)
If you are worried about the candle blowing out, you could use a hurricane globe. That will help keep the breeze away from the candle...:)

My soon to be husband is blind and we didn`t want to try the unity candle thing but we still wanted to do the whole uniting our fam. So I came up with the idea of sand it is just like the other lady said but instead If u are on a budget go to a craft store and get craft sand get one bottle of your fav color and one bottle of his fav color and u can find 2 smaller vases for your fam to pour the sand into and a larger one for yall 2 to pour into this will only cost u like 7 bucks and if u have a hobby looby store check out there web site hobbylobby.com and click on there weekly specials and u will see the view coupon link to the left for there weekly coupons. If u are not on a budget orientaltrading.com has the allready done sand kits and they personalize them for u .
