Parents 25th Anniversary

Hi. My parents 25th wedding anniversary is in December of this year (2002). It is only April now, but I mean it doesn`t hurt to start thinking about it does it? I have never really planned such an event before and need some guidance. First of all I should give you some back ground info one our family. I am the oldest child (21) and then there is my sister (19), then I have two brothers (13 & 8). I am the only one with a job (sister in university) so it will be mainly up to me to be the financial person. I mean they are my parents, but I don`t want to spend too much and then be in debt for years!

1. I Guess my first question is how many people should I invite. I was think about looking at some of their wedding photos, seeing who was there etc. And inviting some of them. Old friends, new friends, family, some of my friends who are close to my parents, neighbours. But I could have over a 100 people if I really think about it.

2. The next question would be what would be the best environment for holding this? I was thinking that I would take mom and dad out along with my brothers and sister for supper. Then I would ask everyone I invited to meet at our house during the time we are out. But our house wouldn`t hold very many people. So I was thinking about renting a hall or something like that. But again most people would be travelling to come here. We live about 35-45 minutes away from a lot of their friends and family. So that makes it kind of difficult as well.

3. Also I was thinking about hiring a band. Mom and dad have a friend who is in a band, so he would probably be able to play for a half decent price. Or would having a DJ be better? I was also planning on finding out what their wedding song was and get the band / dj to play that song and make a special dedication to them.

4. Also when should I start putting out invitations things like that?

I could probably go on for ever, but I think this is a good start for now. If you could respond to me by email that would be perfect, but if you would rather put a message on here that would be good too. I am looking for all the help I can get!

I would ask for all the help financially from the family that you could and also ask them for suggestions. The band I think would be better since he is a friend. A very nice gift would be a 78oz. Pitcher with they`re first names on one side and 25th Anniv. On the other and a set of glasses with the first letter of they`re last name on them.(old english style) Visit my site for a better understanding. Just click the link below. I hope I have been of some help on suggestions.

My cousins put on a party for their parents 25th they kept it pretty simple. They intvited like 400 people and only 100 showed up so now that everyone won`t come. For food you should ask some relitives to help so it cost less money. You don`t really need much else. Decoateions add a toch but really are not nessery. My cousins put together a board of pitucture and that was really cute. Hope I helped

OMG I can not believe that I just read your message. You are me. I am 25 and planning the same thing for my parents. I feel like I could have wrote your story. I know that you probably have everything planned already since it is the end of Nov. I am having the party for my parents but instead of gifts people invited are going to contribute to a travel agent account because my parents never had a honeymoon. So as far as gifts I have that covered but the party is the hard part. I think the band thing is a great idea, because that is the same with us our neighbor has a band and he will play for our functions. I hope you went with the band idea. Also the food issue all of my family likes to cook, help etc. So we will have a pot luck style for food, now the hard part where to have it. If you can email me what you did or ideas or suggestions. Thanks Jennifer :)
