MOTHER OF THE GROOM

MY SON IS GETTING MARRIED NEXT MONTH. BRIDE IS WEARIN AN IVORY WEEDING DREES. HER MOTHER (CHINESE) IS WEARING A CHINESE CUT GOWN. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR? WHAT COLOR AND DO I HAVE TO WEAR GOWN FOR THE CEREMONY AND PARTY OR DO I HAVE TO WEAR DIFFERENT ONES. IF SO, WHEN CAN I WEAR THE GOWN?

CC,
The most important thing is that you stay along the lines of the formality of the wedding. If the brides dress if formal (full, beaded, sequins, glitter, etc.) then you should wear a formal, floor length gown. Unless the reception is dramatically more casual then stay in the same dress, everyone else will be in the same attire (assuming the reception is directly following the wedding) so you should be too. As far as color, coordinating isn`t manditory. The only thing I would suggest is don`t wear the same color as the bridesmaids. If there is a secondary color, however, that is a possibility. For example if her colors are lavender and peach, and the bridesmaids are wearing lavender, you could wear a peach dress, but again this is not a mandatory thing. Hope that helps some.
