Fake Cakes
A few years back I saw on the Oprah show a wedding that had a "fake" cake and then served a sheet cake. I would love to take advatage of this idea but I`m wondering if I can buy a ready made fake cake?? Can anyone offer suggestions as to where I can get the ready made--I`m not very crafty and fear if I do it myself it will be NOTICABLE. Thanks!

My cousin did that a few years ago. The bakery provided the faux cake, although, the bottom layer was real cake. Check with your bakery, I think a lot of brides do this....they just don`t talk about it.

You don`t have to make it, you can go to a craft store that has classes in things like that and ask one of the workers to make one for you and pay them. I love the idea of having the bottom layer real so that you have the cutting cake experience. That sounds like a great idea.
