Cape Topper--Outside Input Needed
OK, question....
I`m thinking about putting a small white porcelein dachshund and bird on my wedding cake--my fiancee LOVES dogs and I am a bird person. The pets also helped get us together, etc. So I figured, why not ad them? I found some white figures that are very graceful.
But I also know it`s a nontraditional cape topper, and my mom hates the idea. She says its a bit silly and laughable. I mean, she`ll let us do it, but she really has reservations about it being strange.
Any ideas? Is it a nice idea or really nutty? What would you think if you saw that at a wedding?

I am thinking of having a custom cake topper made (I found a place on ebay that is really reasonable- under $50!) with my fiance, myself, and our two dachshunds. I`m sure our mothers won`t like the idea, either, but I think that it`s important to personalize your wedding. That`s what makes it memorable, for yourself and your guests. Plus, I`d regret having a boring topper when all is said and done. Although your mom might be embarrassed at first, I think you`ll find that overall your guests will think it`s cute that you added your own special touch to your cake. And if they don`t, who cares? You just enjoy your day the way you want it and forget the rest of them! :)
