Quinciera Gifts

What do the different gifts presented to the Quincinera represent? For example ,what Christian refrence does the crown signify? or the ring,earrings, braclet ect. My niece will soon be celebrating her Quincinera and I believe this will be helpful information.As I have never been to a ceremony where this is explaind.Also where does this tradition root from?At one time I heard a catholic preist say it came from an Aztec ritual of sacrificing the most beautiful 15 year old virgin to an Aztec god for some kind of favor .Sounds crazy that we would still up hold this tradition if this story was true. PLEASE someone give some insight one this.
