Sponsers For A Wedding

I think it is a great idea to ask for sponsers! I am getting married soon and I would like to have a sponser 4 my wedding. I would like for someone to help with the reception and my flowers only. I do not want them 2 send me the money but to the reception hall it self. Someone please help me, my wedding is coming soon. Thank u.

You know, folks, the vicious responses people get on this website are really disgusting. Can`t we debate this stuff without treating other people like dirt?

Common Sense, you posted something really rude to a list about pregnancy, too...why all the anger?

Sheesh. Go pick roses or something.

I agree how stupid it is to have a sponsor when you can pay for it all your self. No one owns home, everyone is rich, we all drive nice cars. What ever would any one need help for? The Jackass is the one who didn’t think of it first. I am a homeowner; I do drive a nice vehicle. However I have real bills and live in real life. Why not ask for a sponsor. It is called "Networking" Learn about it. No one gets something for nothing. They sponsor the wedding in return I advertise for them. I am in the middle of paying for my wedding and thought the same thing that it would be really easy until I woke up. NO my fiancé will not think that I am dumb. He will think that this was the best idea in the world. We could have the wedding of our dreams and still maintain without going into debt. So as I stated I agree it is very tacky. But, it will be wonderful on my way back home from my honeymoon with no wedding debt or worries.

I came across this site while researching info on gaining wedding sponsors. This is something I am working on. Without sponsors, it is highly unlikely that I will have a wedding at all.
I think its pretty narrow minded to assume that those who want sponsors are being greedy, just want a huge wedding or are to lazy to save the money themselves. To the contrary, I want a small, simple wedding. But as we all know even small wedding cost thousands of dollars -- money i just do not have and really have no means to aquire.
Evey girl deserves to have at least a small piece of the wedding fantasy she has had since childhood. If I or anyone else is willing to do all the legwork of gaining sponsors, more power to you! Don`t be ashamed of it, it can be done tactfully without assaulting your guests with ads. Also, you are helping yourself and you are helping small businesses gain popularity.
To the nay-sayers, I dunno, get a life I guess. If your a business and you don`t want to sponsor some one than don`t. But don`t insult those of us who are willing to ask for help. There is a lot of work involved in gaining sponsors, it`s not like some one is just going to hand you a bag of money -- for instance I am trading graphic design services for wedding services.
What I`m saying is, those of us seeking sponsors NEED them. There is so much work involved. Some one with the means to have a nice wedding wouldn`t bother to do all the work involved. So ease up with the criticism. You have the right to your opinion but you don`t have the right to make people feel badly for wanting to have part of the american dream.

Well, ladies...for all of you skeptics, the sponsored wedding really does work! I am employed by a non-profit organization and I arrange conventions for our nursing students all year-round. Guess how those conferences are paid for?! BY SPONSORS and EXHIBITORS, willing to pay for the exposure.
So, it seems only natural that I incorporate what I know into my wedding. That`s why we decided to host a sponsored wedding.
I have made the invitation to sponsor, the agreement and the sponsorship levels and mailed it to reputable companies in my area for which I myself, or someone I know, can provide a referrence of their professionalism.
The response was more than I was expecting! We now have 8 secured sponsors and 4 potential.
Don`t get me wrong, I do believe the couple should pay for part of their wedding. We are paying for all of our own formal wear, jewelry, furniture and honeymoon (even though some of these items were offered to us) because we don`t want our wedding to go overboard with the sponsors. But for modest advertising, (most done before or after the wedding so it is barely noticable at the event) so many companies are willing to help.
And for the nay-sayers that think this is a ploy from some cheap-skate couple, I urge you to think of this the next time you watch TV commercials, go to the movies and sit through 10 minutes of previews, look at the Sunday ads in the newspaper, or apply for a grant for school.... Those luxuries are all made possible by the support of sponsors!
My fiance and I are nowhere near poor and far from rich, but we are cautious about our finances and don`t want to start our new married life in debt. And I encourage all couples in our situation to look into the sponsored wedding!

Could you offer us some tips on how to persuade possible sponsors? like what kind of agreements did you have with them, what was the verbage you used?
I`d rather not spend $40 on so called tell all books that will tell me how to do this.
If you could offer some tips that would be awesome of you!
