Unique Or Original Wedding Favor Ideas
I`m looking for favors and reception decorations that would give our wedding a different flair. Been to too many weddings with boring or unoriginal thank you gifts - any ideas and where I might find them? Thanks!:-)

Make Hershey Kiss roses in your wedding colours. Simple to make and inexpensive too. You can put them in bud vases as decorations. A friend of mine did this and it looked very classy.

I`m a distributor for wedding favor bags/boxes/sachets. I get all my supply from Asia so I can offer great prices. I just handled two weddings..they ordered 500 favor bags (actually small silk sachet bags w/ a silk tying cord). They`re sheer and we put potpourri in the sachets. These can also be further embellished (if you want to splurge a bit) with glass beaded flowers. Let me know if interested and I can email you a photo. My prices are very reasonable.

Can you please post a link to the picture of the bags, and can you tell us how big the bags are,are they big enough to put favors in,and do you have difrerent sizes.I`m looking for sort of bigger and I have seen some like you say on oriental.com and they also have some lace bags but the lace bigger bags have an elastic band and I like the drawstring better but those sheer bags are smaller.

I sell favor bags (actually silk sachets w/ a silk tying cord) at a very low price. They come in differenct colors and they`re sheer. For those who want to splurge, I sew on glass beaded flowers on these bags. The colors of the beaded flowers can be tailored to your overall wedding color theme. I just handled a wedding two weeks ago and the bride put wonderful potpourri in these sachets. This is great because 1) there`s a beautiful scent in the reception hall and 2) your guests are guaranteed to take these favors. The bags are so beautiful that they wont throw them away. And I guarantee you, they`ll use them!

Hi.
We just bought our favors on EBay. They are coffee bags that have our initials, and are great! This lady is fabulous, and she does so many unique things! Search for "Unique wedding favors", and you should find her. Good luck.

Hello,
If you are looking for something different,
You will find beach themed items like flip flop candles, or seashell candy, or garden themed like tree seeds. You can find personalized wedding coffee or bubblegum buddies. There is so much to choose from.

This may be way to far out there but....I am having a very informal beach wedding. I`m on a tight budget, so buying jewelry for the bridesmaids to seemed silly; also i`m paying for 2 out of the 3 dresses (long story). SO...in spirit of the beach theme I am buying them hermit crabs! At the mall in SD there is this woman who makes really neat small aquariums with colored sand, driftwood etc. And carribean hermit crabs with beautifully painted shells. She is really into them and they are very healthy. You have to see them..soo cute And make wonderful pets.I know it`s weird...they also make good gifts for flower girl or ringbearer.

A quick, inexpensive favor would be buy candy molds and make chocolate suckers. Place a ribbon and tag with a thank you. Everyone loves chocolate. 99% will take them home for the kids if they are not eaten.

Well, we ended up doing charity favors to where we donated to the charity in the guests honor and I made a thing with pic explaining and I printed up soo cute and put in these beautiful gold bags that I got downtown at a wholesale place on Wall st. Real cheap and also these lil` glass Crosses and Angels that we put in these gold organza bags that I got also downtown cheap. They were a big hit, and I have seen them in people`s houses. This way we gave them something tangible to keep and also gave a meaningful gift to charity in their honor, which will help families feed and sustain themselves.

My husband and I love art; we had a local artist create custom serigraphies ("silkscreens" or "screenprints") for our guests... We know a couple who enjoy reading; they gave out beautiful metal bookmarks made by a local artisan, but i`ve seen some very nice ones in specialty shops... I have another friend who is giving out kaleidoscopes... Small picture frames are always nice (not terribly original, but at least people can use them if they`re not into collecting stuff from weddings)... I recommend you go window shopping at small spacialty shops... They will often carry unique and interesting gifts that you can find a way to personalize...
Good luck!
Good luck!

Oh, and i just remembered another couple who is giving out incense cones... They like that sort of stuff... And it only cost them something like ten cents a cone, i believe they`re giving out about 10 assorted scents and a cone holder per guest...

Hi! For those of you who are still looking for unique wedding favors, personalized candy bar wrappers are definitely unique. They can be matched to your wedding colors, can include a picture that you supply, can be made to fit your theme, and they are quite a conversation piece.
They look so classy and high-end and the best part is that they are unique because they are geared to that particular wedding.
Let me know if you want more information at ddnj@juno.com.
Good luck to all of you!

We are doing $1.00 scratch off lottery tickets in vellum envelopes with a penny minted this year. Our theme is lucky in love.

Nice job at finding that idea about the scratch lottery tickets off of the wedding magazine......(MODERN BRIDE) This posting is for ORIGONAL ideas!! That is definately not one, I suppose you also got the stickers on the back that also say lucky in love......just an educated guess.......BYE

My honey and I are getting married outside, so we thought of a great idea to give as favors. We are making small yet sweet homemade windchimes to give our guests. That way not only will they get to enjoy them, hopefully they will remember our special day.

Whoa! I didn`t know that the idea police were monitoring this site...
Bella there are no original ideas. In this industry it`s all been done. (like hershey kiss roses, incense, charity donations, fabric bags, personalized coffee and almost everything else on this post) You just try for something that compliments your theme that most of your guests haven`t heard of.
I am glad to see that my idea was good enough for a magazine to feature. That means it has merit. Where can I buy the stickers already made? Is it the current issue of Modern Bride or an old one?
As for originals- you aren`t one. Layla is our little critic here. Posting criticism without constructive adivice is tired. At least try to put some humor into it. Let`s hear your ORIGINAL favor idea.

Thanks Bella! Your snippy little comment helped me find the site that will take the work out of my favors. Blissweddingmarket has the sheer envelopes and labels already in kits. Very cute. Exactly what I had in mind. I hope everyone has as much luck with their favors.

I also got an idea from a magazine but saw it in a friend`s wedding before then. My bridesmaids and I are buying heart shaped cookie cut outs and tieing them with ribbon to a recipe card with a yet-to-be-chosen cookie recipe on the back. On the front we will write in calligraphy "We Were Cut Out For Each Other" with our names and the date of the wedding. It`s personalized and it`s something that the guest may even use in the future.

Cookie cutters are a great idea! Does your family have a favorite sugar cookie recipe? If not you might want to try this one
Brown Sugar Cutout Cookies
1 cup - firmly packed Light Brown Sugar
1/2 cup - butter or margarine, softened
1 - egg
1 teaspoon - vanilla
2 cups - all purpose flour
2 teaspoons - baking powder
1/4 teaspoon - salt
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease cookie sheets.
Beat brown sugar and butter in large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until creamy. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to sugar mixture. On well floured surface, roll out half of dough at a time to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with floured cookie cutters. Bake on prepared cookie sheets 12-15 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.

My husband and I are renewing our vows in September 20, 2003 for our 10th anniversary. He loves to fish, so I will have mini galvanized buckets filled with gummi worms and swedish jellyfish. Also, I will put a keychain shaped like a fish hook, and tie a tag to it with raffia that says " Love has us hook, line and sinker". I know it`s a little corny, but I thought it would be different and memorable. Plus the keychain is practical.

We just went to a wedding last weekend, (my fiancee` cousin) and they had decks of playing cards with the Bride and Grooms names on them with the date. I didn`t quite understand why you would do that for a wedding but they said the groom enjoys going to the casinos.
We`re having personalized votives labeled with our names and date wrapped in tulle, the scent is pumkin spice (we`re having a fall theme). They turned out very nice!

Our wedding theme is "When you Wish Upon a Star" so we asked a friend who makes specialty soaps to make us small star shaped soaps. The are very small, about an inch in diameter, so we are wrapping three soaps in tulle bags and tying with a ribbon. We put a tag on it that has the theme "When you wish up a star, your dreams come true," and then our names and the wedding date. The lady who makes the soaps supplies a sticker with her business contact information for the back of the tag. The soaps are heather scented and very nice. We are placing them on the tables at the reception, so they`ll also act as decorations.

Has anyone used herbs growing in small terra-cotta pots for their favors? I was thinking of doing this and growing thyme as my herb and maybe have a tag that says "love only grows stronger with thyme." I also wanted to use them for the centerpieces for the reception. If anyone has done this could you please let me know how you went about doing it and how they turned out? my email address is kaooavdpa@hotmail.com, Thanks!

Yea, that`s true, it`s all been done before. You just gotta put your ideas up and see who may dig that, because that one person may not have heard of that. Before I started alllll my wedding pursuits, I hadn`t heard of alot of this stuff. Its nice to see what people are doing. There are alot of ideas on the other wedding sites too, but I can`t post them, cause if I do, I notice the delete my posts if I ever mention any. I am GodsQQQ@aol.com if you want any info I may have. Peace. Hope you find the favor that fits you two.

We`re doing a beach theme, and are buying bulk quantities of polished shells. Then, we`re painting our names and wedding date onto them. I `borrowed` the idea from a Christmas ornament that I saw in St. Thomas. I`m thinking of affixing small magnets to the back, too. Hope this helps!
By the way, some of you brides out there seem very bitter (ie-the way you criticize one another!)

Hi! We are doing a beach theme with Sand Dollars- I ordered a stamp at creative images on line with our name and the date of the wedding and ordered sand dollars from sanibel sea shells on line I got the shells they are beautiful and they are a wonderful company to work with and I am going to stamp on them (gently) and then put embossing powder over it and emboss them! I looked EVERY WHERE for sand dollar ideas but the only thing I could find was people hand writing on them and I don`t have neat hand writting... So I am so excited to do this.. Oh and we are doing message in a bottle for the invitations...
